How should I prepare for a session?

Before each session, you might consider what you want to get out of it. Do you want to relax? relief from pain? Do you need help recovering from an illness or injury? Are you struggling with chemical addiction or cravings? Do you need help dealing with emotional issues? Share this information with me and I will use it to create the best experience for you.

What if I am late to an appointment?

If you are going to be late, please call to let me know. And don’t worry. I understand all the pressures and stresses of our modern life sometimes lead to unpredictability. When you arrive, we will do as much of the session as we can. We can always reschedule if necessary.

Where can I park?

There is street parking for clients.

Are the sessions confidential?

Absolutely. No one will see your health history or any session notes except me. If I need to consult with other professionals about the particulars of a session, I do not identify the client.

How do we get started?

If possible, please fill out the intake form in advance. Download here At your first session, I will discuss it with you. This way I can be sure to address your specific long-term needs. After that, we’ll have a regular session.

What is a session like?

At each session, I ask how you feel, what you need special help with, how you felt after your last session. Then, I give you some time to undress and get settled onto the massage table, and I prepare myself for your massage by washing my hands thoroughly. When I return, I’ll check to make sure you’re comfortable, and then we’ll proceed with the session work.

When our session is over, I step out to give you time to relax and get dressed.  I wait for you to open the door to let me know you are ready for me to come back.  Then we can talk about the session, schedule another session if necessary or desired, and discuss any issue that may have come up.  I will also collect payment at this time.

What do I wear?

It’s best to wear clothes that are easy to put on and take off. You may leave your underwear or other clothing on during the session, or not. I can work through clothing, but some work is more effective if the client is not clothed. If you choose to remove all your clothing, rest assured you will not feel exposed. I use sheets to make sure you never feel uncomfortable during the session.

What should I do after a session?

A good idea afterwards is to spend some quiet time alone, allowing the work to sink in. Drink water and relax. Other measures depend on your particular condition. I may recommend stretching, ice, heat, or salt baths, for example.

What can I expect from my first and subsequent sessions?

When we are working together for the first time, there is a lot to learn: Which techniques will be most effective? Which should be avoided? What helps? Still, a single session can help a lot. You might experience immediate improvement in your condition including: relief from pain, greater ease of movement, or emotional well-being. As we continue to work these benefits will increase. We will also iron out other matters, such as: How long should your session be? How often should you have sessions? What is the best ratio of different techniques in each session?

Can you come to my home for a session?

I am sorry, but I do not offer remote services at this time.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Currently I accept cash or check. Major credit cards are accepted. I can also bill your insurance provider.

Can I use my insurance?

If coverage is available, we can bill your insurance company for services rendered due to an automobile accident, a workplace injury covered by workman’s compensation, or with any other medical prescription.

Is it ok to tip? Are tips expected?

Tips are always gratefully accepted, never expected. I provide the same excellent service to everyone regardless.

Are you open to barter/trades?

Yes. The trades must be equal in dollar value and deliverable within an agreed timeframe. Please contact me if you have a barter proposal.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

If you find that you can’t make your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. If you are cancelling within 24 hours of your appointment, calling or texting works best; for earlier cancellations, please send me an email.

Is there a benefit for referring a friend?

Absolutely! Referrals are very important to us. For every referral, you will receive 25% off your next treatment.

Do you have a family plan?

Yes we do. Each family member receives 15% off the first visit AND every visit!
